I met Melissa and Thomas on Saturday, the two cleanest little kids you could meet. Mel was simply enchanting, with her sweet fairy wings and quiet demeanor. Thomas was similarly reserved at first but overcame his shyness once he discovered birds to chase and water fountains to operate.

The holidays were brilliant with great times shared with family and friends. So there were a few sleepless nights with our teething toddler but when you have kids, you come to expect the odd surprises. Teeth, colds, tantrums can arrive when you least expect it. What matters in the end is that everyone, especially the kids, had a ball. The sight of an excited and happy child is priceless. How we all wish to be as carefree.

A great start to 2010 with moments that reminded me how fortunate we are to be healthy, happy and free.
